Absorb centuries of history and culture along Thailand's "River of Kings" on board the legendary Mekhala. Cruise either upstream from Bangkok or downstream from the ancient capital of Ayuthaya, staying overnight alongside a traditional Buddhist temple. Ayuthaya, in former times, was the capital of Siam, a great trading city and the envy of the whole region before it was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. The ruins still remain a haunting reminder of its former spendour. The Mekhala, a former rice barge, transformed to a floating boutique hotel, provides your accommodation, complete with air-conditioned cabins and comfortable chairs on deck to view life along the waterways.
