Doi Inthanon is with 2565m above sealevel Thailand's highest mountain. The National Park with the same name is covered with green forests and is blessed with magnificent views. During this 2 day exploration you will walk through jungle and valleys, and you can see the many bird species, waterfalls and hilltribe villages.
Day 1. Chiang Mai - Doi Inthanon
Leave Chiang Mai early morning by private minivan to Doi Inthanon. Reach the mountain top for a short trek. Visit the 2 pagodas near the mountain top, with splendid views over the valley. Lunch in a local restaurant. Start your 2 hour walk to a small Karen hilltribe village. Here you will stay overnight. A Thai dinner will be prepared by your guide (L, D).
Day 2. Doi Inthanon - Chiang Mai
After breakfast continue your trek from the village into the mountains. Walk through jungle, forests and cultivated valleys, in a beautiful setting along the hills at the foot of Doi Inthanon. A car will wait for you there to take you to the Vachiratarn falls, one of the many waterfalls in Doi Inthanon National Park. Enjoy a typical Thai style picnic lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing at leisure. Then back to Chiang Mai. Dropoff at your hotel or airport. If you want then you can arrange an elephant ride during the tour (not included, ask your guide to arrange) (B, L)
Included: Transfers per private minivan or 4WD, overnight stay in a simple village hut with toilet and shower outside, sleeping bags, english speaking guide, foam matrasses, mosquito net, meals as mentioned and entry fees. Minimum participation 2 persons, maximum 8. The route can be adapted to the season, local conditions and fitness of the participants.
Remark: The overnight stay is very primitive. No western toilets, washing facilities outside, sleeping on a bamboo floor in a village hut. We recommend the following things to take with you. Tour code: DCNXDIE. Daily departure from Chiang Mai with english speaking guide.
