Explore the jungle northwest of Chiang Mai. Several traditional hill tribes live in this area, such as the Karen, Lahu and Akha. The first day you will make two treks and stay overnight in a Karen village. The second day you'll make a terrific ride on an elephant back and stay overnight in a Palong village. The last day you will gently float down a river on a bamboo raft, during which you can enjoy the sounds and smells of the jungle.

Day 1. 09:30hr pickup at hotel. Travel by pickup car. Stop at a local market for an introduction in Thai herbs and ingredients. Onward to a Shan village for lunch. Then your first trek of 3 hours to a Lahu village, where you stay overnight at the village headman. Get acquainted with our local friends and explore the village on your own. Dances are performed by the village people in the evening.

Day 2. After breakfast a 2 hour trek to a Karen village, and onward to a beautiful waterfall for lunch and a swim. Onward trek along the river to an elephant camp. You will ride the back of an elephant through the jungle. A car will then drive you from the jungle to a camp fire at the banks of the river. Take a refreshing swim to wash the sweat of a day's walk away.

Day 3. Start the day in a playful way with a tour in a rubber raft over the (sometimes fast) streaming river. Change over to a bamboo raft and continue your trip a bit more at ease to a Shan village. Lunch will be served there. The pickup car will then take you to an Akha village, which you can explore at ease. Then head back to Chiang Mai, where you will arrive around 16:00 - 16:30 hr.

Remark: Overnight stays are primitive. No western toilets, washing facilities outside, sleeping on a bamboo floor in a village hut. We recommend the following things to take with you. In exceptional circumstances, such as weather, strong and weak walkers in 1 group, water level in the river etcetera the route may be amended by the guide. The intention will remain the same. Start & end at your hotel in Chiang Mai. All meals included, except breakfast on day 1 and dinner on day 3.
