Tour 1. Half day south of Chiang Mai
Departure every day except Tuesday at 08:30 and 13:30 hr
This tour is the best choice for those who want to see and experience a lot
in just half a day. It can be done by anyone in normal health who can ride a
bicycle. The route is chosen so that you will have a lot of contact with the
Thai people. You will see and experience their way of life. A relaxing
bicycle tour with great variety in the beautiful surrounding area of Chiang
Mai.
Route:
Morning departure from your hotel or another location in town. The traffic is
not busy at all at this time of the day and we can ride comfortably and
quickly to outside the Chiang Mai city area. We follow the Ping river
downstream in southern direction. The riverbanks are nice and green all year.
On our first important stop is a lepra colony, an institute of more than a
century old. It seems just like we are back at the beginning of the previous
century. The peaceful, shady area contains many old trees. The quiet area is
full with green leeves and an ideal surrounding to cure for the institute's
inhabitants. It will leave a great impression on you. The tour proceeds along
orchards, fields and through small Thai villages, giving you an insight in
the rural, "real" Thailand. Passing along the ruins of Wiang Kum
Kam we eventually drive back to Chiang Mai.
