Chiang Mai Tours - Cycling in Chiang Mai - by bicycle along orchards, fields and through small villages around Chiang Mai, Thailand Route: Morning departure from your hotel or another location in town. The traffic is not busy at all at this time of the day and we can ride comfortably and quickly to outside the Chiang Mai city area. We follow the Ping river downstream in southern direction. The riverbanks are nice and green all year. On our first important stop is a lepra colony, an institute of more than a century old. It seems just like we are back at the beginning of the previous century. The peaceful, shady area contains many old trees. The quiet area is full with green leeves and an ideal surrounding to cure for the institute's inhabitants. It will leave a great impression on you. The tour proceeds along orchards, fields and through small Thai villages, giving you an insight in the rural, "real" Thailand. Passing along the ruins of Wiang Kum Kam we eventually drive back to Chiang Mai.
