Roundtrip from Chiang Mai
Day 1. Doi Inthanon
Morning transfer to Doi Inthanon, with 2565 meter above sea Thailands highest mountain and also a national park. Popular because of the many splendid views and waterfalls. The climate is cool all year round. Today you will visit several waterfalls, among which the spectacular Mae Yai and Mae Klang falls near the park entrance. Pass the Wachiratan waterfalls, plunging down 40 meters and cascading into a number of pools where you can swim. Visit a Karen hilltribe village where weaving is one of the main sources of income. There are many walking trails. Your guide will accompany you. Overnight stay in the nice Touch Star Resort.
Day 2. Mae Sariang – Mae Hong Son
Transfer from the Touch Star Resort to Mae Hong Son. Stop on route at Mae Sariang. Visit the fish cave in the forest park Thumpla, near the village Huay Pha at the foot of the mountain. At the cave entrance is a lake, shaped by natural water sources, where many large fish species live. Trees and plants flourish abundantly around the cave and there is a small river with water so crystal clear that you can see the bottom. Visit Phrathat Doi Gongmoo tempel in Mae Hong Son. This temple is built by Phaya Singhanatrach, the first king of Mae Hong Son. Located on top of a mountain at the west side of Mae Hong Son, it offers a scenic view over the city and the surrounding mountains and valleys. Overnight stay in the beautiful Fern Resort.
Day 3. Mae Hong Son – Pai
Morning visit to the famous Mae Hong Son Palong hill tribe, also called the Longnecks. The village women of Ban Nai Soi, at the Burmese border, wear copper rings around their necks. They wear these since childhood. Onward to Pai. On route visit the wonderful Lod caves, where many antique artifacts and prehistoric fossiles are found. These giant caves are beautifully decorated with colorful stalagmites and stalagtites. Overnight stay in Pai in the Quarter Hotel.
Day 4. Pai – Chiang Mai
A short journey will take you to an elephant camp, located in the beautiful area of Chiang Dao. Here these giant creatures are trained to work in the jungle. This training takes many years. The elephants show their skills during a performance. Visit also the nearby caves of Chiang Dao, which houses a white marble Buddha statue from Burma. After lunch travel to Chiang Mai and arrive in the afternoon. Here this tour ends. Your overnight stay this evening is not included, but we can book it for you.
