This can be convenient if you have special questions prior to your booking or special wishes, for instance if you want to know whether the hotel is located directly on the beach or if you want family rooms or interconnecting rooms. We will let you know what rooms are available for the period that you want to book and give you the room rates. |
Which beach location is the nicest?
This is a question that we get often. The answer depends on what you are looking for, apart from sun, sea and beach. Do you only want to enjoy the sun and the sea or do you also want to book daytours? Are you looking for child friendly activities? Do you want to dive or snorkel? Do you want a quiet beach or are you looking for a bustling evening- and nightlife? Here below you find a short overview of Thailands main beach destinations and what they offer. The weather patterns for each location can be found here.
| Koh Samui | : | Especially sun, sea, beach and nightlife (bars, restaurants, discos). Koh Samui does not offer snorkling or diving locations and a very limited number of daytours. From Bangkok or Chiang Mai there are direct flights to Koh Samui, which makes your holiday more expensive. Hotels are generally good but relatively expensive. |
| Koh Phangan | : | More relaxed and less busy than its big sister Koh Samui. The island is famous for the so called Full Moon parties. These parties are limited to a small location southeast on the island. Koh Phangan has nice diving areas in the northeast. Nightlife is existing but limited. Price level is a bit lower than Koh Samui. For who wants a peaceful beach stay in beautiful hotels. |
| Koh Tao | : | Koh Tao is one of the worlds most famous diving locations, both for beginners and experienced scuba divers. Many facilities and many PADI diving schools. Much more quiet than Koh Samui. The nightlife is very limited and there are virtually no daytours on offer. The peaceful island offers several beautiful and nicely located resorts. The hotel standard is lower than on Koh Samui. Koh Tao is consequently less expensive. Koh Tao should be avoided from October - December due to bad weather (storms and rain) and ferries frequently do not sail. |
| Phuket | : | Phuket is a mountainous and beautiful island. Phuket offers beaches and nightlife (bars, restaurants, discos) and also lot of excursions, daytours, family friendly evening tours, activities on and around the water (jetski, parasailing, canoeing). There are many diving and snorkling locations as well as diving and snorkling daytours. Phuket is mainly famous for its beaches and nightlife but also offers many quiet beaches. From Bangkok or Chiang Mai there are direct flights to Phuket, which (same as for Koh Samui) makes your holiday more expensive. Hotels are generally good but relatively expensive from November - April and relatively very cheap from May - October. |
| Krabi | : | Krabi is located on the Andaman sea in the south of Thailand, opposite Phuket. The most wellknown beaches are Ao Nang, Railay and Nopparat Thara with beautiful resorts. Also the islands Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta belong to Krabi and can easily be reached from Krabi. Krabi is located in a beautiful natural surrounding between rocky mountains. Krabi offers several activities, among which sea canoeing and rock climbing for the enthousiasts. Krabi offers various daytours as well as restaurants and terraces. |
| Phi Phi island | : | Phi Phi is a well known island between Krabi and Phuket. The island can easily be reached by ferry from both locations. Phi Phi is a beautiful paradise island with many possibilities for snorkling and diving. No daytours or excursions. Phi Phi Island has some very nice hotels in mid to high price range. The main beach is with many shops a bit touristic. |
| Koh Lanta | : | Quiet island south of Krabi. Koh Lanta offers various daytours as well as restaurants and terraces. |
| Hua Hin | : | Hua Hin is a relaxed small coastal town approximately 200km (125 miles) southwest of Bangkok. Hua Hin offers a traditional European atmosphere with small alleys, night markets, restaurants and terraces where you can enjoy a beer or a cozy evening meal. More upper class with Gucci and Armani shops. Hua Hin has the oldest golf course of Thailand and a beautiful old railway station. Nightlife is limited and there are virtually no excursions or daytrips. Hua Hin is a peaceful beach destination with good hotels, very suited for families with children. |
| Koh Samet | : | Especially sun, sea and beach. No excursions, no snorkling or diving. There are a few hotels, most of them not up to date standard and too expensive. We do not recommend this destination. You can book better hotels on better locations for less money. |
| Koh Chang | : | Koh Chang is a magnificent mountainous island southeast of Bangkok, close to the Cambodian border. The island is not yet discovered by mass tourism and offers beautiful beaches, coral reefs and mountain walking trails. Koh Chang offers various daytours as well as extensive possibilities to snorkel, go scuba diving (there are plentiful PADI diving schools) or to make an island hopping tour. Koh Chang also offers family friendly ways to spend your evenings with nice restaurants, theme cafes and a few discos. Koh Chang offers ample choice in accommodation from budget to super luxurious resorts. Comparable hotels on Koh Chang are somewhat cheaper than Phuket and Samui. Besides, Koh Chang can be reached by road so you do not have to book a flight, which keeps your holiday budget pleasantly low. Less bustling than Phuket or Koh Samui and well recommendable. |
