Meet with the Thai people During this homestay you will stay a few nights at a Thai host family in a quiet Isaan country village. A unique and charming way to meet and live with the Thai people and to experience first hand what life on the Thai countryside is like. Life is quiet and easy going and the region is still rarely visited by tourists. Don’t worry about a language barrier: an English speaking Thai tourguide will be available during your village stay to translate between yourself and the locals. Enjoy it, it’s real fun and the people will love to dialogue with you. |
Food & rooms Your overnight stays will be at home with a Thai family. Rooms can be different in size, appearance and furniture and are within walking distance from each other. Your room has a double bed with fan. The accommodation and sanitary facilities are simple but decent. Breakfast and dinner are on a central meeting point in the village. You don’t need to take along much more than toilet articles and clothes for the duration of the stay. Breakfast and dinner are included. Transport will be done by Songtaew (non-airconditioned pickup truck). |

Village activities During your home stay you will become involved in authentic, daily village life. There are several organised visits to village production facilities (hand made products, cloth weaving), to agricultural activities (cattle farming, rice sowing or harvesting depending on the season) and to the local school to experience (part of) a schoolday. These activities are genuine and not performed for tourist purposes. You can actively participate if you want. There is also time to explore the village on your own. have lunch in a village foodstall or visit the afternoon market. And especially: take the opportunity to meet and socialize with the Thai people. The village program depends on the season and the particular day of the visit. |
Tourguide A professional English speaking tourguide will be available during your entire stay. The guide also acts as translator, bridging the language barrier and making the contact and communication with the local people easy and certainly a lot of fun. This is one of the unique elements of our program and gives an extra dimension to the contact with the Thai people. Next to being the translator the guide will take you along the organized activities, will give background information on the things which you will encounter on the way, can answer to all your questions and can help you to organize and arrange many things on the spot also in case of unexpected events. |
The below indicated activities can be included. Which activities can be done depends on the season and the particular day of the visit. The order of activities will be determined on the day of the tour by the tourguide in consult with the clients. The village will be explored by walking.
- Drive through the surrounding rice fields, opportunity to do farming activities yourself;
- Village walk and visit the local people at home;
- Visit local handicraft workshops;
- School visit on schooldays (not possible on Sat + Sun and school holidays);
- Temple visit and talk with the monks;
- Buy ingredients at the local market for evening meal;
- Buddhist blessing ceremony;
- Experience the “tak bat” morning ceremonial collecting food by the monks;
- Free time to explore the village on your own;

Our homestay location is Ban Khampom, about 30 km southwest of Khon Kaen city.
