that both end in Khonkaen. Three days and 2 nights exploring nature, culture and history in the heart of Thailand. From
Khon Kaen, through Loei and Petchabun, to Phitsanulok and Sukhothai. Then from Sukhothai to end the tour in Chiang Mai.
Day 1. Mountain route to Phitsanulok
From Khonkaen you travel by airconditioned minibus to Sukhothai. This trip takes you through the mountainous provinces of
Loei and Petchaboon which belong to the most beautiful region of northeast Thailand. With their ample choice in National
Parks this area is a favorite destination of nature lovers. During this trip you can enjoy the spectacular scenery and
views and you will stop a few times on the way. The village Bo Po offers salt-water sources. Villagers boil the water
leaving the salt which then is sold. A picnic lunch in Thung Salaeng Luang National Park is included. Overnight stay in
Phitsanulok. All transfers today by private aircon minibus.
Day 2. Sukhothai
Founded in the 13th century, Sukothai was the first capital of Thailand (then Siam), which enjoyed a golden age under
King Ramkhamhaeng, credited with creating the Thai alphabet. The superb palaces, temples and monuments of this great city
have been lovingly restored in Sukothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-see for all travelers.
We will rent bicycles to peruse this breathtaking and impressive old historical city. The guide will supply you with a
city plan so that you can find your own way in this maze of ruins, city walls, lakes and canals. Lunch in a restaurant
near the park. Overnight stay in Sukhothai (B).
